Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking a Technical Director / Senior Technical Director of RF/MS IC Design to join our growing team. In this role, you will focus on the following:

  • Work with a team of IC designers and systems engineers to develop high-performance Analog and mixed-signal circuits for MaxLinear’s next-generation products
  • Responsible for interfacing with communications systems, layout, SoC, production, and marketing during various phases of the product development cycle
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, influencing key strategic and architectural decisions
  • Involvement in recruiting, selecting, and mentoring some of the best engineers in the industry
  • Drive the definition, architecture, design, and production ramp of high-performance communications SOCs
  • Influence support teams such as CAD, Technology, and digital to enhance productivity across the compan

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background with industry experience in at least one of the following areas: analog/mixed-signal circuits for wireline applications or SERDES (data converters, serializer, de-serializer, filters, analog front-end, e.g., CTLE, VGA, amplifiers, etc.) and/or frequency synthesis and clock generation circuits (crystal oscillators, DLLs, integer-N and fractional-N PLLs)
  • IC tapeout and productization experience, including customer-facing support
  • Hands-on experience supporting the characterization and release-to-production
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of relevant specifications and how they relate to block-level specifications
  • Experience with industry-standard simulation and design tools, such as AFS, Spectre, SpectreRF, Virtuoso, and Matlab
  • Show a clear understanding of fundamental concepts and design tradeoffs within your area of expertise
  • Solid understanding of CMOS process and device physics; experience with FinFET is a significant advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 13 years of experience, or MS + 11 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 8 years of experience

Compensation and Benefits

MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.

 

MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of:  CA$211,000 to CA$267,300 Annually

The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.
