Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Staff Digital IC Design Engineer to join our Digital IC Design Team to provide innovative IPs and subsystem solutions for the challenges in wired and wireless communications and networking domains. You will work in a diverse team and participate in design activities in a cross-functional, dynamic IC development environment. In this role, you will focus mainly on:

  • Micro-architect, design and deliver modules and subsystems including digital signal processing modules, networking components (eg. packet processing/protocol accelerator modules) as well as in high speed peripheral interfaces (integration of analog IP modules such as SerDes PHYs) for complex ASIC/SOCs
  • Support and provide design expertise and documentation for the IPs/subsystems to meet engineering challenges, schedule and quality goals through executing in-house methodology and standard industry tools
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional teams including silicon/system architects, SOC integration and verification, DFT, physical design, system validation and test engineering teams to ensure successful chip integration of these IPs or subsystems in ASIC/SOC products
  • Create solutions to support continuous improvement and learning in digital IP design methodologies and flows

Qualifications

  • Strong fundamentals and proven expertise in basic circuit and digital logic design, CMOS technology and ASIC design methodology
  • Specialization in High-Speed Interfaces and industry protocols standards such as AMBA/AXI, PCIe, USB, SATA, Ethernet IEEE 802.3 standards, etc
  • Specialization in Digital Signal Processing, Communication systems, Networking SOCs, etc
  • 8 years and above of experience in Digital IC verification at IP/Subsystem level
  • Knowledge and experience for various Digital ASIC development activities such as:
    • RTL design coding using Verilog, System Verilog or VHDL
    • Design constraining, power intent definition (UPF)
    • Usage of industry standard tools for quality checking, lint, synthesis, static timing analysis, logic equivalence checks
    • Module level verification using SV, UVM or C using industry standard tools is desirable
    • Design for Test concept and implementation is a plus
    • Support or implementation in rapid prototyping, emulation and silicon validation is a plus
    • Working knowledge of one or more scripting languages and ability to use them to automate/accelerate design and analysis tasks
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate clarity of thought and conviction
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering
