Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking an experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE) to drive new designs with customers in broadband (access and connectivity) and LTE/5G wireless infrastructure businesses. FAE team are key to MaxLinear as the first line of contact for our customers. FAEs help customers to design-in MaxLinear-based solutions to ensure successful deployment in real-world applications. FAEs as sales team members are also in charge of pre-sale to win new opportunities and manage customer projects to be on schedule. In this role, you will focus on the following:

  • Engage in pre-sales activity and promote MaxLinear products along with Sales team
  • Provide consultation to customers on MaxLinear products and help evangelize MaxLinear technologies; During the design-win process, you will help provide technical training to customers’ team on products
  • Be the first line of contact for support on all technical issues and questions from customers or peer application engineers
  • Drive MaxLinear engineering, R&D and AE teams to support Taiwan customers requests
  • As applicable, clarify and reproduce customer technical issues in a local environment and work with AE team to provide correct information (solution)
  • Help review customer PCB designs, and any needed debugging
  • Support basic IC failure analysis and work with QA team to help customer improve yield rate
  • Managing multiple customer accounts with multiple projects and distributor FAEs
  • Collecting market information to work with Sales and Marketing to support selling strategy
  • Possibility of travel overseas to other MaxLinear offices for field issue support and product training as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Field Application Engineer or similar technical role
  • Basic knowledge of broadband technologies (xPON, DOCSIS, DSL, WiFi) and LTE/5G infrastructure (RAN, ORAN)
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols, RF systems, and embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills to manage customers’ projects
  • Candidates with HW/RF experience:
    • PCB knowledge includes schematic design, layout and BOM design. Hands-on skills of PCB including prototyping and optimization board design
    • Strong HW development including simulation, and troubleshooting capability
    • Basic EMI, ESD and surge certification support and debugging
    • Test equipment operation: Spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscope, i2c analyzer…etc
    • (Preferred) RF experiences for WiFi/LTE/5G products
  • Candidates with SW experience:
    • Familiar with RTOS, Linux operating system environment and Arm processor system
    • C/C++/Python programing experience
    • Experience in developing SW for WiFi/LTE/5G Radio units
    • Ability to debug SW issue independently
    • Embedded SW development experience such as device drivers, BSP, etc.
    •  (Preferred) DSP programming experience and familiarity with wireless communication algorithms such as DPD, CFR, PIMC, MIMO, CTLE, FFE…
    •  (Preferred) Familiarity with WiFi, or 3GPP and ORAN standards

 

Other Skills:

  • Language skills: Good English read, write and speak capability
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
