Responsibilities

MaxLinear Singapore is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal System Validation Engineer to lead validation efforts for cutting-edge Ethernet PHY and switch systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in system-level validation, electrical verification, high-speed I/O (HSIO) characterization, and other interfaces validation. In this role, your focus will be:

  • Lead system validation activities for Ethernet PHY and switch products across multiple development phases
  • Perform electrical verification and HSIO (USXGMII/XFI) characterization including signal integrity, jitter analysis, and eye diagram measurements
  • Validate power consumption across various operating modes and system configurations
  • Develop and execute validation plans for interfaces such as SPI, I2C, MDIO, and others
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, firmware, and software to ensure comprehensive validation coverage
  • Automate test procedures and data analysis using Python and other scripting tools
  • Document validation results, debug issues, and drive resolution with relevant stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or Master’s and above in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field with at least 12 years or above of working experience in system validation, preferably in Ethernet PHY and switch systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERTs, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of HSIO interfaces and electrical validation techniques
  • Experience with power measurement and optimization strategies
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data analysis
  • Familiarity with protocols such as SPI, I2C, MDIO
  • Experience with silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation
  • Knowledge of signal integrity simulation tools and methodologies
  • Exposure to embedded systems and firmware debugging
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skill
  • Experience working in cross-functional and global teams
