Staff/Senior Staff Application Engineer

We are looking for a Staff / Sr. Staff Application Engineer to support MaxLinear’s growing CPE PON business. This role works closely with customers, partners, and internal teams to support product bring-up, software integration, system validation, and mass production. You will focus on:

• Support PON CPE customer projects from early development stage through system qualification, field trials, and mass production
• Analyze and debug customer issues related to system failures, configuration problems, interoperability (IOP), and field issues, and drive issues to resolution
• Support customer software integration based on MaxLinear SDK and reference designs, primarily on Linux-based systems (e.g., prplOS / OpenWrt-derived environments)
• Conduct technical training for customers, distributors, partners, and internal teams as required
• Support customer design-in activities such as evaluations, demos, and technical reviews
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support both technical and business decisions

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or 8+ years related experience
• Experience in broadband CPE, PON systems, or embedded networking products
• Hands‑on experience with embedded Linux systems and software debugging
• Familiar with customer support or application engineering roles in ODM / OEM environments
• Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently
• Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with PON technologies such as GPON, XG‑PON, XGS‑PON, or EPON
• Experience with OpenWrt, prplOS, Yocto, or similar embedded Linux frameworks
• Previous experience with Tier‑1 or Tier‑2 ODM or operator customers
• Experience working with cross‑regional teams
