Responsibilities

MaxLinear is looking for energetic and motivated engineers with experience in system applications engineering. In this role, you will use your technical knowledge and communication skills to support both customers and internal teams. You will focus on:

  • Work with Sales and FAE teams:
    • Secure design wins and strengthen relationships with key customers and strategic partners
    • Communicate and clarify customer-required system specifications and application requirements
    • Demonstrate MaxLinear product evaluations and present technical seminars at customer sites and trade show events
    • Support and track customer design, bring-up, validation, and debug activities
    • Provide product and technical training for regional Sales and FAE teams
    •  
  • Work with internal teams:
    • Reproduce customer-reported issues and complete primary debugging
    • Clarify customer-reported issue details and provide accurate information to internal teams
    • Support regression and stress testing
  • Gather information from customers and the market to support marketing:
    • Perform feasibility studies on new product features
    • Support the Marketing team in defining new products and product roadmaps
    • Conduct competitive intelligence studies and analyses
  • Support MaxLinear product development:
    • Build reference designs for system validation and customer evaluation
    • Develop product test plans and generate test reports
    • Generate product collateral and customer support documents, including application notes, datasheets, and user guides
    • Work with the Engineering teams to improve product reliability, quality, and user experience
    • Conduct field testing and analysis for new products
  • Support MaxLinear lab team:
    • Manage and support PCB and assembly vendors for purchasing parts and building PCBs and PCBAs
    • Manage, test, and deliver EVKs to FAEs or customers

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in EE with 3+ years of experience in optical modules and long-haul/data center transceiver product design
  • Broad knowledge of analog circuits, system hardware integration, firmware, and application-layer software issues; experience with RF/SI simulation tools (ADS or HFSS) is a plus
  • Experienced in 400G/800G/1.6 transceiver design with DML, EML, Sipho Driver/TIA/CDR/DSP/PAM4; including circuit design, HW/SW debug, and application support is preferred
  • Experienced in high-speed digital and RF/Microwave PCB design
  • Driver integration and ATE development for platform characterization/debug experience is a plus
  • Familiar with lab instruments including spectrum analyzer, signal generator, network analyzer, Digital Communication Analyzer (DCA), Optical DCA Sampling Oscilloscopes, Optical/Electrical Clock Recovery (CDR), logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzers, protocol analyzer, and BER tester, etc
  • Strong ownership of productively drive customer issues to closure. Act as the interface between the customer and internal engineering to resolve technical issues
  • Write and maintain data sheets, technical application notes, and user guides
  • Must have the technical capability to guide customers through product usage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English in terms of strong communication skills with customers and various internal groups such as marketing, engineering, sales, and operations
